Geisenheim University and Eberbach Monastery
The action group “Lifelong Learning, actively passing on knowledge” was on its way to Geisenheim University and Eberbach Monastery.
On March 10, 2026, 47 interested participants embarked on an excursion, first visiting the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences for Viticulture and Horticulture. There, one group received a fascinating tour about a current research project involving photovoltaic systems in vineyards and their benefits for viticulture. Simultaneously, the second group gained exciting insights into wine sensory analysis with a small wine tasting in the university's wine cellar. The group then continued to Eberbach Abbey, where they enjoyed lunch at the abbey's restaurant. During the subsequent guided tour of the abbey, which also served as a filming location for the movie "The Name of the Rose," they were met with astonished faces. Lively conversations ensued on the return journey. Thus, this excursion, too, concluded with the aim of promoting lifelong learning and fostering friendly exchange among the participants.
