Konz: Parking lot closures “Am Markt” due to lightning protection
Expected on Monday, March 23, 2026, Work to improve lightning protection is beginning at the Konz town hall and the administrative building II. This measure is part of a series of fire safety improvements that must be implemented in both buildings of the municipal administration in the coming months.
The installation of the new lightning protection systems will first require work on the roofs. Since a mobile crane will be used, some parking spaces in the front row around the buildings will need to be closed during the work. To minimize disruption, the affected parking rows will only be closed briefly and in sections. The work in front of and behind the two buildings is expected to take an average of three days each. Weather permitting, the roof work should be completed within approximately three weeks.
In May, construction work will begin on the grounding system for the lightning protection. Here, too, the local authority, together with the contractor, is striving to minimize disruption to traffic. The work is expected to be carried out without a full closure of "Am Markt" street. Parking restrictions are also anticipated to be minimal, if necessary.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
