Expansion of the district road 136, through the village of Oberemmel
Construction work expected to begin on May 26th - Information from the Trier State Mobility Authority
The Trier State Mobility Authority (LBM) announces that construction work for the expansion of the main road through Oberemmel (K 136) is expected to take place from May 26, 2026, until mid-2028. The project includes resurfacing the road, constructing a sidewalk, and installing utility lines.
This is a joint project of the Trier-Saarburg district, the city of Konz, the Oberemmel district and the Saar-Mosel Werke Konz.
County road 136 will be fully constructed over a length of 805 m. The roadway width will be 5.50 m, including drainage channels on both sides.
Along the K 102, paved sidewalks 1.50 m wide will be constructed on both sides. Furthermore, accessible bus stops will be installed as part of the project. The sewer and water lines, including house connections, will be renovated or replaced by Saar-Mosel Werke Konz.
In the section from "Am Rosenberg" to "Im Gartenfeld"/"Im Großgarten", the road surface will be resurfaced over a length of 75 m. The existing asphalt surface layer will be milled off to a thickness of 3.5 cm and replaced with a new 3.5 cm thick asphalt surface layer.
Due to the narrow road width, work in the aforementioned section must be carried out under full closure. To minimize disruption, the project will be divided into three construction phases. The detour will run via the L 138 Krettnach/Niedermennig to Kommlingen in both directions.
Further information on construction site management can be found on the LBM website at the following link:

The total cost of the project amounts to approximately €3,808,000, with the Trier-Saarburg district contributing approximately €1,446,000, the municipality of Oberemmel approximately €809,000, Saar-Mosel Werke Konz approximately €1,548,000, and the state approximately €5,000. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is subsidizing 75% of the Trier-Saarburg district's share.
The LBM Trier would like to thank the affected road users and the affected municipalities in advance for their patience and understanding.
