The Moselland Nittel Music Association receives the Westenergie Climate Protection Prize
That climate protection is not a sprint but a marathon has been proven by the more than 9,000 projects submitted to the Westenergie Climate Protection Prize since 1995. This year, over 130 dedicated volunteers from 16 municipalities in the districts of Hermeskeil, Konz, Ruwer, Saarburg-Kell, Schweich, and Trier-Land participated. Sixteen award winners were honored this year in the wine cellar in Fell.
The winner from the municipality of Konz was the Moselland Nittel Music Association for their "Clean-Up Day" project. The association received prize money of €500.

The projects demonstrate the importance of climate and environmental protection in the Trier-Saarburg district. "The diversity of the submitted projects shows how widely awareness of environmental and climate protection is rooted in our region," says District Councillor Iris Molter-Abel. The prize was presented to the Nittel-based association by Ms. Molter-Abel, Guido Wacht, the mayor of the Konz municipality, Westenergie Regional Manager Marco Felten, and Westenergie Municipal Manager Christian Nathem.
A jury consisting of representatives from the municipality and Westenergie decides which projects will receive awards. They review and evaluate all applications received beforehand. "Climate protection begins locally. The award winners are making an important contribution to making our region more sustainable," said Westenergie Regional Manager Marco Felten.
The prize was presented to the Nittel association by Iris Molter-Abel, district councilor of the Trier-Saarburg district, Guido Wacht, mayor of the Konz municipality, Westenergie regional manager Marco Felten and Westenergie municipal manager Christian Nathem.
