Using bait boxes to combat rats at the train station in Konz
Bait stations are being set up at the organic waste container site at Konz train station to combat the rats that have recently appeared there in increasing numbers.
The boxes ensure that other animals, and especially children, cannot easily access the bait. Furthermore, the active ingredient in the bait is so diluted that larger creatures than rats should not be harmed by ingesting it.
As a precaution, parents should still pay particular attention to their children in this area over the next few weeks. Dog owners are asked to keep their dogs on a short leash for the duration of the operation.
A professional pest control expert will inspect the site regularly. After two weeks, a decision will be made jointly with ART on how to proceed.
The city continues to ask users to pay particular attention to cleanliness at the container site: Please close the lid of the organic waste containers after disposing of bags or waste! Do not dispose of food waste in front of the bin, but inside it! When disposing of your organic waste, please ensure that no food scraps fall next to or onto the container!
