Senior Citizens' Day in Konz-Karthaus was a complete success

Under the motto "Growing older – staying active," the Konz municipality's Senior Citizens' Day took place last Saturday at the community center of the Protestant church in Karthaus. Numerous visitors took the opportunity to learn more and exchange ideas. The event was met with an overwhelmingly positive response.

The Senior Citizens' Day was opened by Mayor Guido Wacht together with Mr. Hurth, the senior citizens' representative for the Konz municipality, who had organized the event with the administration. Afterwards, the mayor toured the event to get a firsthand look at the diverse offerings and spoke with exhibitors and guests at the information booths.

“Our society is aging – that’s why it’s important to stay active and find out about support, participation and preventative care options early on. The wide range of stalls shows how diverse the services for senior citizens are in the municipality of Konz,” emphasized Mayor Wacht.

Numerous institutions and local stakeholders presented their work: the care support center, the community nurse Plus, the Caritas social station, the German Red Cross, the Malteser relief service, the VdK, the Konz gymnastics club, Ritter hearing aids, the Zeitgarten, ProRetina, the Trier dementia center with the Konz-Krettnach support group, "Exclusive" rehabilitation sports and the health promotion and prevention department of the district administration.

This offering at the Senior Citizens' Day was complemented by well-attended presentations on stress management, senior safety, and digital inclusion. Practical exercise activities also invited participation. Coffee and cake provided ample opportunity for conversation and socializing.
